Sigi has her own unique teaching style that quickly unlocks student’s potential through conversation. She gently finds out what topics the student is interested in and then builds on those topics expanding student’s vocabulary, weaving in grammar and igniting the student’s motivation to have a conversation in a foreign language. Sigi really loves foreign languages and her passion is contagious even when a student has little energy or is overwhelmed with the new material. Sigi encourages the student to learn from all sources around him/her and apply the language every day even with a very limited vocabulary. Furthermore, she is open to any new method or trick that helps the student to remember new words or grammar rules. The traditional language learning methods emphasize grammar and repetition, the teacher is expected to continuously correct the student before language habits are built. In many cases, the student filled with new knowledge is able to read and write but is completely unable to make a conversation. Without proper practice, the language skills are quickly forgotten and the tremendous effort expanded does not pay off. Sigi avoids these pitfalls by making the student learn to speak first even though may be not fully grammatically correct. She does not focus heavily on correction fostering the student’s motivation and courage to speak up. I would strongly recommend Sigi to anyone who is serious about learning a foreign language and wants the teacher who is able to guide, motivate and support them through the amazing journey of foreign language learning.
